i gave up red meat when i was 9 or 10. i gave up all meat when i was 13. i started eating seafood very rarely during college and then more regularly after i met G.

but recently i’ve been considering all the risks associated with eating eggs and milk produced by animals who are injected with hormones and antibiotics. yuck. so…i decided to give my body a break for the new year. i decided to go vegan for the month of january!

that’s right. vegan.

no meat, no dairy, no eggs, no animal by-products whatsoever. vegan.

today is only the 10th day, but so far it hasn’t been too hard. if anything i’m eating healthier. i decided to go low-gluten while i’m a vegan so that makes it a little bit harder. but i’m positive at the end of this month i will feel so much better. however, G and i made an agreement that i wouldn’t stay a vegan. he thinks veganism is not a healthy lifestyle. i don’t think i could stay a vegan anyway – there are some foods i miss…like pad thai! but i do think i will consider staying vegan maybe half to 75% of the time.

and gosh i love gluten-filled products. but trust me, you feel so much better and have so much more energy if you can live a dairy free, gluten free life.
