G and i baked our first apple pie together last week! healthy? no. not at all, not even a little bit. but delicious? oh yes…without a doubt. and it was actually pretty simple for someone like me who isn’t in to baking all that much.
classic apple pie
adapted from mattandkaraadopt
what you need:
6 Gala Apples
3/4 cup brown sugar (lightly packed)
1/4 cup white sugar (you could omit this easily)
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tbsp unsalted butter, cut into tiny squares
2 9 inch pie crusts (yeah we used pre-made pie crust…don’t hate)
what to do:
a) preheat oven to 425 degrees, defrost pie crusts, and carefully line bottom of pan with one crust
b) prepare your apples! (peel & dice)
sidenote: G is so awesome. he peeled and cored the apples all by himself. (my least favorite part)
c) mix apples with sugars and cinnamon until well coated and place in pie crust. dot apples with butter squares.
d) place second pie crust on top and carefully tuck into pie pan (over bottom crust, making sure crust is completely sealed). cut some lines or a pretty design in top
e) bake for 40 minutes (or until golden brown!)
mmmhmm, what a good lookin’ pie!
